How to install a watch face

Four steps: check the watch, buy and install, select the face, pick a colour.

1. Check your watch

DAVLE watch faces need a round watch running Wear OS 5 or newer. On the watch open Settings → System → About → Versions and look under "Wear OS" or "Android OS". If it says 5 or higher you are fine. Apple Watch, Fitbit, Garmin and older Tizen-based Samsung watches do not run Wear OS.

2. Buy and install

Pick one route. The watch needs Wi-Fi or LTE, and the watch and your purchase should use the same Google Account.

Route 1: from your phone

1. Open Google Play on your phone and go to the watch face.
2. Tap the arrow next to the price or Install button and choose your watch as the device.
3. Buy it, or tap Install if you already own it. It can take a few minutes to reach the watch.

Route 2: from the watch

1. Open the watch's app list and tap Play Store. It uses the Google Account you set the watch up with.
2. Tap Search and type or say the name of the watch face.
3. Open the result, then buy it or tap Install.

Route 3: from Google Play on a computer

1. Open the watch face page on play.google.com and sign in.
2. Click the price or Install button. Where it says "Choose a device", pick your Wear OS watch.

If your watch is not offered as a device, it probably does not meet the Wear OS 5 requirement.

3. Select it

Installing does not switch the watch to it. Select it:

On the watch

1. Touch and hold the current watch face. On some watches, swipe left on the watch screen first.
2. Swipe left or right until you see the watch face, then tap it.

From your phone

• Samsung Galaxy Watch: open the Galaxy Wearable app, tap Watch faces, then tap the watch face.
• Pixel Watch: open the Pixel Watch app, tap Watch faces, then Use on watch under the watch face.
• Other Wear OS watches: use the Wear OS app or your watch maker's app.

Steps can differ by model and software version. A watch face can be hidden, and a hidden face still shows in the phone app.

4. Change the colour

Touch and hold the face, tap Customize (some watches call it Edit or Settings), and swipe to the colour or accent option.

If something looks wrong

• No app on the phone: expected. A watch face lives on the watch.
• Not on the watch: check the Wear OS version, that the watch uses the Google Account you bought with, and that it has Wi-Fi or LTE. In Play Store on the watch, open My Apps (Pixel Watch: Manage apps) to see whether it installed.
• Not offered for my watch in Google Play: the watch probably runs Wear OS 4 or older.
